Family Roots

Welcome to Andrew Morris Woodwork, where the art of woodwork is more than just a business—it's a family legacy. The story began in 1875 in London with Turnpenny's Cabinet Makers, a beloved family shop established by my great-grandad on my father's side. The Turnpenny name soon became synonymous with quality and craftsmanship. He and his brother expanded their vision, opening a successful furniture-making factory and warehouse in Finchley, North London by the 1930s.

On my mother's side, my grandfather brought his carpentry skills from Italy, and I cherished every moment spent in his workshop, captivated by the tools and the intoxicating scent of fresh-cut wood. My father instilled in my brothers and I the value of practical skills, encouraging us to make and fix things rather than simply buying new.

At the age of 15, my passion for woodwork was ignited when I tried my uncle's lathe for the first time. I became enthralled with the craft, eager to learn every aspect of woodworking. After leaving school, I worked as a carpenter and later pursued a first-class honours degree in furniture design at university. Throughout my journey, I handcrafted bespoke furniture for family and friends, revelling in their joy and appreciation.
This love for creating personal, meaningful items inspired me to establish my own workshop, where I bring thoughtful, creative ideas to life. I also work as a Design & Technology teacher which enables me to pass on my skills and knowledge to the next generation.
Each item I design and make is carefully crafted using sustainably sourced timber. For my reclaimed range, I use upcycled wood, and when new wood is required, it is always responsibly sourced as local as possible.
I am dedicated to making others feel special and valued through unique, handcrafted wooden items with a story behind them. My commitment to sustainability and quality is unwavering, ensuring that every piece I create is both beautiful and environmentally responsible. I invite you to explore my collection and discover the perfect gift for your loved ones, knowing it is made with passion and care.
