History

Welcome to Andrew Morris Woodwork, where I showcase my skills and abilities in hand-crafted bespoke wooden furniture and guitars. My pieces are meticulously made with attention to detail and quality craftsmanship. I am fortunate to have been inspired by my own family's history who have been in the woodworking industry since 1875. Please see below for more information.

Family Roots

I started woodwork seriously at the age of 15 after having a go on my uncle's lathe. I became hooked and taught myself to wood-turn. I worked as a carpenter/joiner upon leaving full time education before gaining a first class degree in furniture design.

My grandfather on my mother's side was a carpenter and my great-grandfather on my father's side had a long family history in the woodwork business. His family started a cabinet maker's shop in 1875 in London. He then went on to build a very large and successful furniture makers and upholsterers in London in the 1930s called Turnpenny's Ltd.

I work as a Design & Technology teacher, where I use my design and making skills to support the next generation.
